"Students first – raising standards and transforming lives”
Teacher of Computer Science and ICT (with a possible TLR with some leadership responsibility for the right candidate)
Outwood Academy Carlton
Required for September 2019
Come and join our outstanding team at Outwood Academy Carlton!
Achieving Academy status in February 2016 as part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, Outwood Academy Carlton is going from strength to strength. Based in the attractive village of Carlton, we offer an exceptional education and are enjoying significant improvement across every key measure and in every subject. In January 2019, Ofsted noted that “Leaders at all levels are resolute in their belief that pupils are entitled to the highest quality of education and this is reflected in their actions. Capacity for improvement in the future is strong”.
You can help us take things to the next level.
The Computing / IT department is a small department of only one other member of staff and has previously sat within a larger faculty. However, with growing student numbers and a flourishing take up at key stage 4, there is an opportunity to take this subject area to a new level and you could help lead this transition.
We are excited to be looking for a dynamic, forward thinking Teacher of Computer Science and ICT who is inspiring and an energetic leader with a real passion for Computer Science and ICT. This post would suit a candidate who is taking their first step into leadership or is looking to do so in the near future, and you would be very well supported by the existing Computing / IT teacher, who is an outstanding teacher. You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and driven individual who has the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First’. This is an excellent opportunity for an inspiring subject specialist with exceptional communication and management skills.
Outwood Academy Carlton is situated in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire, with Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Pontefract all within commuting distance. We are just 5 miles from the M1.
We were delighted to receive a ‘good’ judgement in our recent Ofsted inspection. Inspectors recognised that “Staff morale is high” and that “A well-considered programme of professional development ensures that staff continuously improve their skills and knowledge”. We are very proud of the way in which we have transformed the school in every possible way and you can be part of the next stage of our journey.
Outwood Grange Academies Trust is nationally recognised as one of the highest preforming academy trusts in the country.
If you join Outwood Academy Carlton, you will be part of Outwood Grange Family of Schools and will therefore enjoy so many opportunities, whether you wish to stay in one school or work across the Family of Schools. When you are ready to move up, you will not need to move on. All of our
Academies have one common goal: to give children, irrespective of ability or circumstances, the chance to succeed.
We are passionate about recognising the potential of both children and staff, and we do whatever it takes to transform futures.
This is a critical appointment for the Academy and is an exciting opportunity for you to move your career onto the next stage.
If you are interested in this role, we invite you to contact I Simpson, Assistant Principal (email@example.com), if you have any questions, and you would be very welcome to visit, by arrangement, to see lessons and witness the rapid improvement that has already occurred.
