With a proud tradition of serving the community of Stockton-on-Tees, Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth is a medium-sized school with a big heart. We are part of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, one of the highest performing Trusts in the country.
Our vision is to put students first in order to raise standards and transform lives. To make this happen, we innovate constantly, including a vertical curriculum centering on exceeding age related expectations in Years 7 and 8 and a three-year Key Stage 4, aimed at personalising learning. Fast-track opportunities and workshops provide accelerated routes for students, where appropriate. In other cases additional teaching time and resources are provided to ensure students leave with a solid foundation of good and better grades.
With a holistic view of education, we value vocational, practical, creative and academic talent equally and focus on building transferable skills that result in real-world success. We are also an ‘enhanced mainstream school’ providing an outstanding education for young people with physical and/or sensory needs.
In particular, we aim to instill British Values: a passion for democratic participation, individual liberty, mutual respect, and difference and diversity, backed by a commitment to taking responsibility for one’s own conduct and progress. By empowering students to take ownership of their learning, we can create tomorrow’s leaders as well as responsible, caring and engaging citizens
