Outwood Academy Carlton is situated in North East Barnsley and is easily accessible from South and West Yorkshire, with Wakefield, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield and Pontefract all within commuting distance. We are just 5 miles from the M1.
Outwood Academy Carlton has worked in partnership with Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) since July 2014 and formally converted to an Outwood Academy in February 2016. During this period, the Academy has undergone a complete transformation in every possible way; “all aspects of school life have been transformed” (Ofsted December 2015).
Outwood Grange Family of Schools is nationally recognised as the highest performing multi-academy trust in the country.
Outcomes for students have improved hugely over the last 2 years across all measures; for example, the proportion of students achieving 5 A*-C grades including English and mathematics has risen a staggering 34% to 63% during this period. We are now performing at or above the national average across the board and are one of the top performing schools in Barnsley. Outcomes will continue to improve, with Ofsted stating that “Attainment and progress demonstrate rapid improvement for current pupils”.
